Twitter Gets Two-Factor Authentication
May 22, 2013 – 5:17 PMToday we’re introducing a new security feature to better protect your Twitter account: login verification.
This is a form of two-factor authentication. When you sign in to twitter.com, there’s a second check to make sure it’s really you. You’ll be asked to register a verified phone number and a confirmed email address. To get started, follow these steps:
- Visit your account settings page.
- Select “Require a verification code when I sign in.”
- Click on the link to “add a phone” and follow the prompts.
- After you enroll in login verification, you’ll be asked to enter a six-digit code that we send to your phone via SMS each time you sign in to twitter.com.
